A Letter from Joe & Amanda
We are excited to welcome our first child into our home through adoption. We have seen the beauty and blessing of adoption first-hand as Amanda was adopted as an infant. We hold the values of family, love, respect, and honesty close to our hearts. We promise to raise your child to be an adventurous, kind, and respectful individual who will always know that they are deeply loved. Your child will grow up knowing their story and your love.
We met freshman year of college as we were moving into the dorms. We dated for seven years before getting married. We moved to our current town when Joe was offered his first teaching job. Amanda also works at the school as the Administrative Assistant.
We enjoy having our summers off and spend a lot of that time at the family lake cabin. We look forward to bringing your child there, going for pontoon rides and teaching them how to fish. We love golfing, working on our house, watching football, trying new Pinterest recipes, and hanging out in the backyard with friends.
Amanda is an amazingly caring and loving person. Every day she surprises me with her creativity whether it is through crafting, remodeling ideas, cooking and baking, or in her writing. In the summers you will find Amanda enjoying the outdoors in her garden, on our deck, at the softball field cheering on my team, or on the golf course. During the winter months, she enjoys crafting, working on the house, and reading. Amanda is a very nurturing person and always strives to be the best at whatever she does. She is excited to spend each night reading bedtime stories to your little one. I know she will be an amazing mother.
Joe is a fun and active guy. He loves sports, coaching, and teaching. In the summer you’ll find him on a golf course or at the lake fishing and in the winter he’s working on our house or preparing for the next football season. Joe is excited to have a little sidekick out on the football field and to share his love of the game. He is so good with children, which is clear when you watch him coach or in the classroom with his students. He is funny and smart and such a good friend. Joe has a soft and caring heart and I am excited to see him pass those characteristics on.
We live in a 3-bedroom house in North Dakota that we have remodeled almost entirely by ourselves. Summer mornings you can find us sitting on the back deck with our coffee, watching the squirrels chase each other through the massive oak trees that cover our backyard. Our house is just a few blocks from multiple parks.
We live in a rural part of North Dakota surrounded by lots of farms and ranches but we’re not far from the city.
Joe is the oldest of four siblings. We spend at least two major holidays together each year and work hard to fit in weekend trips here and there whether it be to the lake, each other’s homes to help with house projects, or for the annual family hayride. Joe’s sister and her husband welcomed their first child into the family in February. They are excited for their child to have a cousin to grow and play with!
Amanda is the only child in her family. Growing up she spent a lot of family time with her cousins with whom she is close. A lot of Amanda’s extended family lives within driving distance and we enjoy spending a few major holidays together each year. Amanda’s parents only live an hour from us so we see them quite often! We also enjoy spending time at their Arizona home when our North Dakota winters get too cold. They are beyond excited to welcome their first grandchild into the family!
We promise that your child will always know how loved they are. They will be raised in a stable, playful, joy-filled house. We will support them in their passions and encourage them to always stand up for what they believe is right. We will support them and be present at every sports game, Science Fair, Sunday School Christmas program and everything in between! Your child will always know the gift you have given them and you will always hold a special place in our hearts and in your child’s life.

More About Our Family
Things We Like To Do
We both grew up as athletes in high school and into college, and sports continue to be a big part of our life. We love golfing, fishing, and playing beanbags at the family lake house. We spend a lot of our free time doing house projects in our home we've remodeled! We like hanging out with our friends watching the local college football team on Saturdays or going on a weekend getaway with them to see a fun band. In the summer we love to be outside- Amanda in the garden and Joe working in the yard. We also try to go on a camping trip each summer. We like to spend time with our families. We also like to curl up with a blanket on the couch and watch our favorite shows with just the two of us.
We Live In...
North Dakota! Amanda was raised in North Dakota, and Joe in Minnesota.
We both grew up with family dogs and Amanda had an occasional fish. Right now we share our home with Teddy, our 12-year old Shiranian. He is a playful, loving, snuggly little guy who is the cutest dog we've ever seen.
We are both blessed to have been raised by parents that have fun and loving marriages that are still going strong today. Amanda was raised in a loving home as the only child and spent a lot of family time with her cousins with whom she is close. Joe was raised in a busy home as the oldest of four; one brother and two sisters.
Faith and Values
We were both raised in Christian families. Amanda grew up attending Bible camps in the summer and went to a private Christian school K-12. We want our child to grow up going to Sunday School, camps, and always knowing that Jesus loves them. We strive to live our life according to the Christian morals and standards we were raised with and what we believe to be right.
What We Want to Teach Our Children
We strive to raise kind, adventurous, creative kids. Amanda is excited to pass on her love of gardening and planting flowers and canning salsa. Joe is excited to teach them how to kick a football, how to keep the grass green, the perfect way to grill a burger. Sports have been a big part of our lives and we're excited to pass on the love of lifelong activities to our kids. Amanda also loves the theater and Joe loves to sing. Think more along the lines of 'car karaoke' than in an actual choir.
What Lead Us to Adoption
Amanda has always known that she wanted to adopt. She was adopted as an infant, and has experienced first-hand the blessings that adoption can provide, not only in her own life but in the lives of three of her cousins who were also adopted. Adoption has always been an amazing, beautiful, and very normal part of her family.
We struggled for many years to conceive, but were not successful. Since we had always known adoption would be apart of our story we are excited to start this journey!
Our whole family is SO EXCITED to welcome a child into our fun, loving, and crazy clan!
