A Letter from Tim & Lauren
Hello! We are so excited to become first time parents through adoption! Friends say we are fun, light-hearted, loving, down-to-earth, and compassionate. We hope to get to know you, and if you’re comfortable, it would be an honor to share updates and ongoing contact with you. Our hearts are ready to welcome a boy or girl into our family, and we promise to shower him or her with love and support.
As told by Lauren: We met on a dating app and sort of connected by accident! We were supposed to find matches only in our area, but we were ‘matched’ with each when we, each separately, were visiting family out of state; Tim was visiting Wisconsin, and I was in Nevada. Clearly the glitch was meant to be, and 4 years later we have built a happy life together in Illinois.
We’ve been thinking about adoption since we found out having a biological child would not be possible for us. It’s been a dream to raise children together since early in our relationship, and we couldn’t be more excited to adopt.
• History (we love museums and historical sites—total history buffs!)
• Antique shopping (especially for rustic or farming items)
• Concerts (we’re big country music fans!)
• Nature walks (love the simple things!)
• Bowling (we used to be on a couple’s bowling league!)
• DONUTS! (we had a donut wall at our wedding…yum!)
I work as a Continuous Improvement Manager for a company that owns rail road cars. Our team helps train cars get the maintenance they need to run. I love my job and am fascinated by trains! They are such a part of history and yet still support many businesses that keep our country going. (Whenever I see a train I love to look for the different types of rail cars that go by!) Plus, I get to work from home, which will be nice when I become a mom.
According to Tim: Lauren is selfless, genuine, determined, hardworking, and thoughtful. She’s my best friend! We balance each other as a team, leaning on each other for anything.
Lauren enjoys running; last year she set a goal to run at least 1 mile per day!
I work in a large school district as a Behavioral Interventionist, on a team that helps students who have been through really hard situations. We work with the students to get them support they need, while also staying engaged in a usual learning environment. It’s taught me the importance of flexibility, open communication, and team work.
According to Lauren: Tim is giving, loyal, charming, and always pushing himself to learn or try new things. He easily puts others before himself. Seeing the way he cares for me, our dogs, and his family, I am sure he will be a loving, supportive father.
Tim enjoys golfing and visiting breweries to try new craft beers.
We live in a 3 bedroom home in a large suburban community outside of Chicago. Our cozy house is on a quiet cul-de-sac, so there’s hardly any traffic. We picture lots of time in the front yard, riding bikes with our child, making chalk art on the driveway, or playing with bubbles. It will be a great place to raise a child! We’ve already begun preparing a nursery too.
What we love most about living here is getting a balance of quiet country life with farmland and nature preserves in one direction, and also having quick access to shopping, restaurants, and more, in the other direction. We live in the middle of it all!
We love our large support system of family and friends! We all get together often, and since many of our friends, siblings, and cousins have young children, we look forward many play dates in the future. Tim comes from a large Irish Catholic family (he has 24 cousins on his mom’s side alone!). There is always something to celebrate or a reason to see each other. Lauren comes from a smaller tight-knit family. Everyone lives nearby, so weekly we are visiting parents, aunts and uncles, and cousins, and we love it. Our loved ones are excited and so supportive of our plans to adopt!
Traditions: Birthdays and holidays are so fun in our big family! For holidays, we usually spend the day before with Tim’s family, and the day-of with Lauren’s family. We’ve also started to blend our families’ holiday traditions, which always circle around great food, homemade desserts, and lots of time together. We are excited at the thought of making new traditions as a mom and dad one day too.
Family is important to us; we cannot wait to grow ours. We are proud that adoption will be a part of our story! We promise to support your child in every way possible, and to provide a loving, safe place to grow up. We will make sure he or she knows how loved they are. We will model and teach healthy communication, honesty, and finding the good around us. We will be parents he or she can trust to come to for anything!
We will honor whatever level of contact you’d like and embrace an open adoption, at your comfort level. Your child will grow up knowing how our family came together through adoption, and we will always talk about you in love. We already have so much love in our hearts for the child who will join our family and we hope to get to know you through this process. Thank you for considering us!
With love, Tim & Lauren

|At home we love...|
• Being in the yard
We have 3 dogs. Shadow is the leader of our bunch, and he loves to watch over the yard and our other dogs. Jacob is always on the look-out, a loyal and loving dog. Parker is playful and the snuggliest (and loudest snorer!) of our pups.
Tim: I love anything Wisconsin and collect anything related to Wisconsin! If I see a knick-knack or even a book that’s Wisconsin related, I have to have it.
Lauren: A silly quirk about me is that I can pick up on different language sounds or accents, from all over, and easily sound like them. Tim likes to play “Around the World” and spit out different places for me to change my voice to talk like people from that area.
